Open hate letter to Startlogic

//*RANT AHEAD*//

I hate you, Startlogic. Do you hear me? You can kiss my butt because you suck.

It started four years ago. You were a small company and you seemed to offer quality hosting at affordable prices. So Starlogic, I picked you out of a crowd of others. From the beginning I never had a problem and I actually praised your services. I even sent a few new clients your way.

But now, for the past week I’ve been trying to do a lot of things

  1. I wanted to give you more business by transfering two domains to you. I requested this and after three days you turned around and sent me a rejected letter. From Startlogic.com:

    I have checked the WHOIS information for the domain and noticed that the domain privacy is enabled. In order to disable the domain privacy, you need to contact your current domain Registration Service Provider. Once you disable the domain privacy, please get back to us …

    And then wait for another three days for you to get back to me and give me another BS line as to why you can’t do it. Not to mention, I requested two domains be transfered and only one of them has domain privacy. So why not just proceed with the other? It doesn’t matter because I settled the matter and transfered the domain to GoDaddy, who offered me a completely automated transfer process. Ever since I’ve been shouting GoDaddy from the rooftops.

  2. I also asked to add another website to my account. This is a website that I purchased from someone else so it would require you to simply point the domain to my account. I took care of uploading all the files for it. I submitted a support ticket for this and yet again I was shot down. This time because the DNS wasn’t pointing to your nameservers. Why did I not change the DNS? Because I didn’t want the website to go down while waiting three days for you to add it to my account. Of course you closed my support ticket. Yet again, you slammed the door in my face. So I’ve been calling non-stop trying to get this taken care of. I reached someone, finally and she submitted another support ticket for the same issue. Well guess what? It was closed, suprise suprise. Why? I don’t know because the response I got said

    We don’t offer refunds on purchased domain names

    Now startlogic, think about this, did I purchase a domain name from you? No. Was I asking for a domain name refund? No. So I called again. And had the customer service rep. add another support ticket to my account (that’s three if your’re counting). She informed me that I couldn’t add any domains without being on vDeck Version 3.0 which brings me to number three.

  3. Because I’ve been with you so long I have an older control panel. But alas, in September you announced that you would be migrating everyone over to a newer control panel: vDeck Version 3.0. Angels were singing in the heavens, I just know it. The e-mail went on to say that the migration would start in October and that customers wouldn’t need to do a thing and that their accounts would be automatically migrated. It is now January, right? Was my account ‘automatically migrated’? Nope, it wasn’t. So I went and set up a date for it to automatically migrate. Of course, my account couldn’t pass their quality control. So I did it again and still, it didn’t pass. Yet, I was told someone was working on it. Well, now here we are and you are trying this again. This time, I’ve been told that if it doesn’t work I high level technician will have to look at it. What a line of BS. Because last time I was told a level 3 tech was working on it. So what does that mean to me?

Now here I am talking to your live chat agent. And just a note: I’m going to keep contacting you until I get what I want. I realize that I am not a big customer. I have the second to the smallest package that you offer and my traffic is the equivalent of chump change. But I don’t think that I should have to go through all of this just to add a couple of stupid domains to my account. I’ve already transfered all of my domains to GoDaddy and I am very tempted to take on a new host too but the idea of downloading and then re-uploading my entire site seems like a very horrific experience. So I’m holding on, just hoping that you will pull through in the end.

Strange how I’m sitting here writing this and the live agent that I’m chatting too online said that she fixed issue #2 within a few minutes. Maybe calling non-stop really does work.

//*END RANT*//

So, does anyone have a good, quality host for multiple websites? I really don’t care about price as that is not my concern. I just want good support!

Its been a while

I thought these were dead. Apparently not because this very typewriter sits on my desk at work.

First post in 2008

I know I’m a little late and it’s been 2008 for almost a week now but sometimes my schedule gets kind of hectic. I figured that the first post of 2008 would be a good chance to reflect on 2007. So I put together a little photo album of 2007. Sorry these are out of order.

I have a lot of big plans for the new year. But I didn’t bother with New Years Resolutions because I never follow through. Instead, I’ve compiled a list of things I want to do, see, payoff, etc. Hopefully (fingers crossed) I’ll be able to get some things done this year. And then in 2009, I’ll post all kinds of pictures of my crazy 2008.

I hope everyone has a wonderful year! I’ll see you all in the future.
